Course Description
This course targets health workers such as Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs), Public Health Officers/Environmental Health Officers, (EHOs), Health Promotion Officers and other professionals who are working in the Energy and Environment sectors such as Architects, Engineers and Energy officers involved in green projects within the African region.
The course aims at equipping participants with the knowledge and enhancing understanding of household energy, including fuel and technology types and trends, the rationale for, and main recommendations of, the WHO Indoor Air Quality Guidelines for Household Fuel Combustion (2014) and their relevance to the management of Household Air Pollution (HAP). The course also endeavours to improve CHEWs, EHOs other relevant health worker’s knowledge on the health symptoms experienced by people exposed to household air pollution, and the severe short-term and longer-term health impacts, including respiratory, circulatory, cancer, eye disease and adverse pregnancy outcomes.
