About Course
HRIM programme is designed to produce knowledgeable, skilful and competent graduates in Health Records and Information Management. A functional and comprehensive Health Records Information management requires additional expertise to develop an integrated structure that collects, collates, analyses, evaluates, stores disseminate, health and health-related data and information for use by all stakeholders. Weak health records and information management systems that need rethinking of the current strategies (Manual vs. Electronic). However, a paradigm shift demands for a new cadre of HRIM experts to transform the Records and Information management systems. At the moment there is an acute shortage of adequately trained personnel at degree level. There is increased demand for proper record keeping using available and ever-evolving technology. Health systems managers and other health professional need quality data and health information to enhance evidence-based decision-making.
MODE OF DELIVERY AND DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME
The HRIM will be delivered through Face-to-face initially. However, as the university completes developing the distance learning platform, the curriculum will be revised to incorporate a blended delivery method so as attract learners from other countries who are not able to pursue the programme on face-face.

Year 1: full time- Kes167,900/USD1679
Semester1: 86,200/USD862; Semester 2: 81,700/USD817
- Non-East Africans will pay 20% above local rates for tuition and all mandatory charges

After completion of the course, the prospective learners are expected to be able to: –
- Demonstrate an understanding of the history and evolution of health records and information management
- Apply the principles of governance, leadership and management in healthcare systems.
- Formulate strategic development plans of different categories of health care systems.
- Practice transformative leadership and management in healthcare systems.
- Apply skills of information management, quality improvement and performance measurement effectively in a variety of health care settings
- Manage health finances for sustainable development of health care systems
- Apply information management in disease surveillance and management
Entry Requirements
A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade of C+ (plus) and above with combination of:
(a) English or Kiswahili C +
(b) Biology/Biological Sciences C +
(c) Mathematics/Physics C+
Or
A Diploma with a Credit pass in Health Records and Information Technology from recognized institution with at least 2 years relevant post qualification experience. In addition, the candidate should have obtained a: C (plain) at KCSE Or Division III at EACE.
