BSc Midwifery & Reproductive Health
(In-Service) Upgrading
Course Overview
The programme aims nurture a competent midwife capable of providing quality health services and leadership in midwifery and reproductive health at all levels of health care system and also participate in research and training to improve maternal, neonatal and reproductive health.
Course Duration: 3 Academic Years
Intakes: May and September
Mode of delivery: Blended (e learning)
- Nursing Council of Kenya Diploma: KRN/ KRCHN/ KRNM/ KRNMHP
- 2 years post diploma working experience
iii. Nurses/ midwives trained outside Kenya and licensed by council must seek clearance from Nursing Council of Kenya before progression.
By the end of this programme, graduates will be able to:
- Provide comprehensive, respectful, and culturally sensitive midwifery and reproductive health services.
- Apply scientific principles and clinical reasoning in the management of pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care, and newborn health.
- Promote reproductive health and rights through education, advocacy, and community engagement.
- Demonstrate competence in emergency obstetric and neonatal care.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to improve maternal and reproductive health outcomes.
- Adhere to professional, ethical, and legal standards in the delivery of midwifery services.
- Conduct research and utilize evidence-based practices to inform and improve reproductive healthcare delivery.
- Primary nurse in hospitals (reproductive health units) Hospitals as line managers
- Nursing Schools as clinical instructors
- Research scientists/ programme officers in
- Government and Non-Governmental Organisations
- Humanitarian sector.
Non-East Africans will pay 20% above local rates for tuition and all mandatory charges
