BSc in Health Systems Management
and Development
Course Overview
The programme focuses on delivery of quality and innovative training of health professionals who can apply multidisciplinary approaches in addressing public health issues and promote achievement of Universal Health Coverage in Primary Health Care as well as resolving human resource for health challenges facing the health systems in low middle-income countries. It is anchored on the six pillars of Health Systems i.e. Healthcare service delivery, Human Resource for Health,Health infrastructure and Administration, Health Care Financing, Leadership and Governance, and Health Information Management System. The goal of the programme is to be a produce health professional of excellence in research and innovation, and training of transformational health professionals and leaders.
Course Duration: 4 Academic Years
Intakes: January, April & August
Mode of delivery:
Full Time – Face to Face (Monday-Friday; 8AM – 5PM)
Part-Time – Virtual (Monday-Friday; 5.30PM – 8.30PM)

Non-East Africans will pay 20% above local rates for tuition and all mandatory charges
- Be a holder of KCSE (or its equivalent) certificate with C+ Mean Grade; C for Biology; C for Chemistry;C for English/ Kiswahili; C for Mathematics/ Physics;
OR
- Be a holder of either a Diploma in Public Administration, Business Administration/Management, Public Health, Environmental health, Clinical Medicine, Pharmacy, Community Health, Human Nutrition or the equivalent of any of these qualifications as approved by the University Senate;
OR
iii. Be a holder of a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Public Administration, Business Administration/Management, Public Health, Environmental Health, Clinical Medicine, Pharmacy, Community Health, Human Nutrition or the equivalent of any of these qualifications from an Institution recognised by the University Senate plus a KCSE mean grade C.
- Be a holder of KACE with a minimum of two principal passes including Biology and subsidiary pass in Chemistry/Maths/ Physics.
All International undergraduate students are required to equate their secondary school grades with the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA). The students should have their academic certificates certified by a qualified advocate and get a verification letter from the embassy before uploading their documents on the KNQA portal.
