  • A Thought-Provoking Webinar:
    Ms. Anne-Marie Schönemann, a seasoned physiotherapist and public health advocate, delivered an inspiring webinar, sharing insights from her nearly three-decade-long career across various countries.
  • Wellcome Trust UK Collaboration:
    AMIU, led by Dr. Alice Lakati, hosted the Wellcome Trust UK team. This partnership aims to advance impactful health research across Africa and beyond.
  • Strategic Management and Leadership Training:
    Congratulations to Eunice and Linda for successfully completing a two-week Strategic Management and Leadership course, equipping them with critical skills for organizational growth.

2. Upcoming Events

  • “From Idea to Impact” Workshop Recap:
    This transformative workshop, led by Dr. Katharina Lichtner and Dr. Dancan Irungu, equipped students and entrepreneurs with tools to craft innovative public health enterprises. Stay tuned for future sessions!
  • World Antimicrobial Awareness Week:
    AMIU joins the global effort to combat antimicrobial resistance through education and research.

3. Department Highlights

  • Global Health Security Initiatives:
    During a breakfast meeting, AMIU DVC Prof. Tammary Rotich shared key initiatives to strengthen health systems and enhance AI innovation ahead of the #eastafricaglobalhealthsecuritysummit2025.
  • Obstetrics Point of Care Ultrasound (OPOCUS) Summit:
    Dr. Micah Matiang’i and Wanjiru Ngunju represented AMIU at this impactful event, emphasizing the importance of partnerships in advancing maternal healthcare.

4. Student and Alumni Stories

  • Empowering Entrepreneurs:
    Stanley, an active member of the Alumni Association, mentored students and entrepreneurs, helping them refine their business ideas into impactful public health ventures.

5. Partnerships and Collaborations

  • British Council Partnership:
    AMIU is now an official IELTS registration, training, and testing center. This milestone expands opportunities for students and professionals to access global platforms.
  • University of Pretoria Visit:
    Vice-Chancellor Prof. Joachim Osur and Advancement Director Edius N. Makono explored benchmarking and collaboration opportunities with Prof. Francis Petersen in South Africa.
  • Tree Planting Event at AMIU Campus at Northlands:

    AMIU students and staff, in partnership with the National Bank of Kenya, came together for a transformative tree-planting initiative, at our upcoming campus at Northlands . This event was graced by AMIU Vice Chancellor Prof Joachim Osur and Ag. Chairman NBK Board, Mr Laban Omangi.
    With passion and unity, we aim to conserve our environment and create a healthier planet for generations to come. Thank you to NBK, AMIU staff, and students for breathing life into this initiative.

6. Community Outreach

  • Tree-Planting Initiative at AMIU Campus at Northlands:
    In partnership with the National Bank of Kenya, AMIU students and staff planted trees to promote environmental sustainability.
  • Ablution Block Launch:
    In collaboration with Nairobi West Men’s Prison, AMIU inaugurated an ablution block, fostering better hygiene and health.

7. Achievements and Milestones

  • IELTS Testing Center:
    The official unveiling of AMIU as an IELTS center marks a new chapter in empowering health professionals with globally recognized English proficiency.
  • Strategic Leadership Training Graduates:
    Eunice and Linda’s completion of leadership training showcases AMIU’s commitment to professional development of its staff.
