The programme meant to produce a comprehensive nurse with the capability to practice clinical, community and midwifery nursing.  The programme has a total of 7 semesters. Content covered in the programme addresses the critical thematic areas of the profession which includes:

  • Fundamentals of Nursing and Midwifery Sciences
  • Professionalism in Nursing and Midwifery practice
  • Communication, counselling and basic ICT skills
  • Pre-clinical and behavioural sciences
  • Medical-surgical nursing including clinical pharmacology
  • Midwifery and Reproductive Health sciences
  • Community Health Nursing Sciences including applied nutrition, nursing leadership and health systems management.
  • Neonatal care and paediatric nursing
  • Home-based and palliative care nursing
  • Peri-operative nursing sciences
  • Mental Health and Psychiatric nursing
  • Nursing Research
  • Nursing care in specialised areas (Emergency care, intensive care and renal nursing)
  • C (plain) aggregate in KCSE or K.C.E Division II
  • C (plain) or credit in English or Kiswahili
  • C (plain) or credit in Biology or Biological Sciences
  • C- (Minus) or pass in any of the following:

    • Physics, Physical Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics
  • A completed application form
  • Copies of your academic and school leaving testimonials
  • National Identity Card (or Birth Certificate)
  • Reliable postal address, email and telephone contact

Graduates of this course can be deployed in the following fields:
