The current approximate number of forcefully displaced people in the world is 89.3 million. (UNHCR global report, 2021). Globally, it is estimated that 60% of refugees live in urban areas; however, attention to refugee issues tends to focus on refugees living in camps. Kenya is known to host the some of the highest numbers of refugees globally with Somali refugees accounting for up to 53.7% of all the refugee and displaced person population in Kenya (Jemutai, 2021).
The International laws and Kenyan constitutional laws state that health is a fundamental right for all human beings, even refugees should be able to access affordable, quality healthcare services. Multiple barriers to accessing healthcare systems exist for migrants.
