Yemeserach Belayney Mengistu

Yemeserach Belayney Mengistu brings over two decades of experience working in population and reproductive health programs, policy advocacy, and representation. She operationalizes the David and Lucile Packard Foundation Sub-Saharan Africa grant making activities and other investments. She represents the Foundation in dialogues with the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, donor community, and regional entities. She serves as the primary point of contact for the Foundation’s grantees, conducts regular project monitoring visits, identifies potential partners and learning opportunities. Yemeserach provides strategic input on trends, opportunities, and investment options to benefit programs in the region. She supervises the day-to-day activities of the Foundation’s office and staff in Ethiopia. She regularly interfaces with fellows of anchor leadership programs and develop, support, and monitor implementation plans for capitalizing on the Foundation’s investments. Yemeserach is actively involved in the national family planning program, serves as a member of technical advisory committees, and contributes as a speaker/presenter in various meetings and conferences. Yemeserach was one of the co-chairs of the third global International Family Planning Conference (ICFP) hosted in Addis Ababa in Nov. 2013. She is one of the chapter contributors for the Reproductive and Child Health Training Textbook published by John Hopkins and Addis Ababa University (AAU), which used for training purposes at School of Public Health, AAU.
