HEALTH ENTERPRENUERSHIP WORKSHOP
Overview
This interactive, 3-day, in-person workshop delves into the principles and practices of building a (social) enterprise, with a specific focus on the public health sector. The workshop aims to empower participants to strategically conceive and implement business models that are not only financially viable but also aligned with their social objectives. The key focus of the workshop will be enabling participants’ success in developing (social) enterprises in the public health sector.

Target audience
Whether participants are in the early stages of developing an idea, planning to embark on a new venture, or simply exploring the world of entrepreneurship, this workshop caters to individuals at various stages of their entrepreneurial journey. We welcome University and college students, Students and staff from Africa Health Collaborative Partners, and healthcare entrepreneurs.
Workshop objectives
Participants will acquire a deep understanding of strategically crafting business models tailored to address public health social enterprises – with content that is broadly applicable to any business. The workshop aims to furnish a comprehensive roadmap for initiating and expanding a business, especially one with a social focus.
Bring your ideas and business plan
If participants are already working on a business plan, this workshop provides a unique opportunity to refine and enrich existing ideas. Participants are invited to bring existing ideas and business plans along.

Participants will experience a dynamic mix of traditional lectures and hands-on group activities. This combination ensures a holistic understanding of theoretical concepts alongside practical application.
Frameworks and templates
Throughout the workshop, frameworks and templates will be provided to guide participants in structuring their business ideas and strategies. These tools are crafted to enhance the learning experience and provide guidance after the workshop.
Alumni network for ongoing mentorship
Participants will become members of an alumni network, offering mentorship to future workshop participants throughout subsequent sessions. This self-managed start-up community will be able to encourage collaboration and knowledge-sharing among individuals who share a common commitment to advancing (social) entrepreneurship.
Long-term mentorship for business plan development
Participants will receive ongoing mentorship and guidance during the learning cycle, facilitating continuous development and refinement of their (social) enterprise business plans.
Hands-on support until business launch
Participants will benefit from real life examples and hands-on assistance until they are ready to independently run and systematically build their (social) enterprises.
Access to funding opportunities and resources
Participants will be guided on how to access grants, impact investment, and other financial support to build their business and maximize social impact in public health.
