Background
Amref International University (AMIU) in partnership with Mastercard Foundation, under the
Africa Health Collaborative (AHC) Program, invites suitable candidates to apply for any of
AMIU’s three listed postgraduate degree Programmes at the institution’s School of Public
Health. AMIU, a premier Pan-African university of health sciences education, is committed to
bridging the human resources for health (HRH) gap by training the next generation of health
professionals equipped to meet Africa’s pressing health needs. Successful candidates will be
part of a networked cohort of highly skilled experts in respective fields with increased
employability and opportunity for employment creation within the health sector and beyond.

1. Bachelor’s degree recognised by Amref International University senate with a Second-Class Honours Upper Division or Second Division with a minimum of two years of relevant experience; OR
2. Any other qualification as recognised by the University Senate.

International undergraduate students upon admission should submit their certificates to Commission for University Education (CUE) for recognition.

Course Duration: 2 Academic Years

Intakes: January, May & September

Mode of delivery: Virtual (Monday-Friday; 5.30PM – 8.30PM)

• Function within prevailing legal framework in health systems and critically assess existing policy and potentially new policies
• Critically appraise health systems and health care structures in terms of their processes, functionalities and quality
• Conceptualize and design research protocols and other studies that will inform best practices and the measurement of outcomes of health strategies.
• Develop an ethics framework that critically assess the ethical situation inherent in any set of circumstances in health care systems
• Apply core principles and concepts of leadership and management in health systems settings

Research Institutions, Ministries of Health, County Governments, Academic Institutions, United Nations Organisations, Health care Sector (hospitals, clinics, nursing and assisted living homes, etc.), Pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, Institutional ethical review boards, Oversight/compliance boards, Policy development organisations, Think tanks in Health Systems.
