AMIU CULTURAL WEEK 2025 – “Beyond Borders, United by Culture”
From June 9–13, AMIU hosts a dynamic celebration of Africa’s cultural richness and global unity. Themed dress days, cultural performances, and the Gala Night will showcase student creativity and identity with pride and color.
Commission for University Education (CUE) Technical Inspection
AMIU proudly hosted CUE for a comprehensive inspection of programs and facilities at our new Northlands campus. This marks a key step in maintaining excellence and compliance.
Dialogue on Ending FGM
AMIU Heritage and Ubuntu Club hosted Terrie Nderitu & Olivia Otieno, EU Women Empowerment Ambassadors, in a powerful forum on ending FGM and promoting gender equity. A strong emphasis was placed on involving the boychild and men in shifting community norms.
Policy Engagement with KEWOPA
Prof. Joachim Osur joined legislators and IDinsight for a dialogue on data and evidence in policymaking. He advocated for:
- Research-backed legislation via academic collaboration.
- Government commitment of 2% of GDP to research.
- Scientific public participation in legislative processes.

Student Services Leadership
Dean Jesse Oyieke continues to lead holistic student growth, blending academics, mental wellness, and vibrant student events like #AMIUCulturalWeek2025.
MoU Agreement with University of Brighton
AMIU launched a new collaboration with the University of Brighton under the Regenerative Medicine and Devices Knowledge Exchange Network, unlocking new opportunities in physiotherapy, nursing, and interdisciplinary research.

Servant Leadership Award – Precious Waweru
Congratulations to our former SRC President, Precious Waweru, for receiving the prestigious Prof. Wangari Maathai Servant Leadership Award at the Africa Student Leadership Awards – East Africa. She exemplifies student-driven change and service.
Mr. & Miss AMIU 2025 Crowned
Kudos to Mr. Christopher and Ms. Flavian – ambassadors of wellness and youth advocacy. They will champion primary healthcare, mental health, and community wellness in line with AMIU’s mission.

Musculoskeletal Disorder (MSD) Initiative Success
AMIU, in partnership with Kenyatta National Hospital, Amref Health Africa, Ministry of Health, and others, concluded a successful MSD initiative for healthcare workers. A Policy Scoping Report is now ready for implementation.
Alumni & AGAAN Leadership Visit
We welcomed Ambassador Connie Nkatha Maina, interim AGAAN Chairperson, and Bitania Lulu (Director of Y-ACT), who called on alumni and friends to join AGAAN and shape AMIU’s legacy and youth advocacy impact.
